Intel 855GME notebook dual monitor

Finally, I enabled my laptop's external monitor (with Intel 855GME integrated graphic card), thanks to Jim Farrand's excellent info. The web addresses are (WOW, I have to write 5 posts to use URL on this forum. This is my first post. I can't use it.)

Due to Intel's video bios problem (for dual head configurations), I should keep "CRT,LFP" for my external LCD and internal LCD.
"LFP,LFP" is not working.
"CRT" means the external monitor including LCDs.
"LCD" stands for the internal LCD of the laptop.
The key points are in the "Device" sections.
The lines in red are crucial.

I would appreciate any help on this issue. No matter what I do, my external monitor complains that the resolution is out of range. The log files indicate that the resolution is trying to be set to 1600x1400, and not 1280x1024 as xorg.conf wants it. Video adapter is Intel(R) 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller (64 MB). I've been reading through a lot of posts on this topic, but haven't been able to find a solution. Here's my xorg.conf:

EndSection

This config-file is based on the posted in this thread. With another setup I can get both monitors up, but the external monitor uses the same resolution as the internal. I can post the other xorg.conf too if that might be of any help.

Thanks a lot.
