Hello; I'm interested in installing Linux Mint 13 with the KDE desktop on a Dell Inspiron with a i3 intel processor. Has anyone on the forum installed Linux Mint 13 on an Inspiron, model N5050 and 6 Gb of ram?

I guess it is possible that someone did. Most people would refrain from answering because your question is so specific, I doubt you'd get an answer. (so I'll blurt in)

It is very simple to test. Download the iso and burn it to a dvd either small or large size and boot to the live cd/dvd. One could even make a live usb to try it.

My guess is that it would work. We may need to fool with drivers for video if you have an add on video card. The internal third gen video intel is fully supported.


It is also easy to run a free virtual machine if you wish to keep the original OS intact.

You should be able to install/run LM 13 without a problem. KDE is a bit of a heavyweight compared to Gnome, but I run LM 13 (MATE) on an old HP laptop with only 1 GB Ram, and an Intel M (2 G HZ) processor. Cinnamon was too resource hungry, KDE was not released when I installed it; MATE runs with no issues. Good Luck
