If you have a usb handy or even floppy, you can use Plop bootmanager to boot usb,usb-cdrom, cd's, etc
on computers that wont boot from usb too
My Toshiba 70000CT has no cd drive, only 1 floppy and 1 usb port
and cant boot from usb
I made a floppy of plop bootmanager's install-to-mbr bootmanager (plpbtin.img)
and also made a floppy of plops no-install bootmanager (plpbt.img)
I had to use the install-to-mbr floppy, which uninstalls and which grub/lilo will overwrite
when you install a distro
it works good and is how I install any distro to it.
I have the no-install-to-mbr plop plpbt executable included with every iso I make
and also netbootcd-3.1.2 which can net-install any major distro
