Installing CentOS from USB
I have created a live usb of Centos 6 and it boots fine on my netbook... everything works just fine but on my laptop... a Sony vaio it just says boot failure-- operating system not found. I have always installed linux on this via the USB drives on this laptop andevery port reads just fine once i boot up from the internal HDD. What can the issue be?

Did you just burn the iso directly to the drive? My laptop wont boot usb when I write them that way while my home PC will. Try reburning it to the usb using unetbootin. See if that makes a difference, does for me.

Im sorry but Unetbootin is what i used

Try Fedora's liveusb-creator, it is much nicer than Unetbootin in my opinion.

Hi,
I use this pendrive linux to format / prepare USB and then copy the ISO to the USB and make change in menu to boot from it. |

OK i have now finally gotten it to boot via the USB... its kind of sad in my opinion that I had to run to windows to make it work but thank you all for your help.
