Install of openSUSE hangs under vbox on Windows host.

Hello,
I'm new to LQ, and relatively new to linux. I'm trying to install openSUSE 10.3 into a vboc (1.6.4) on a windows (Vista} laptop (Compaq CQ50-115NR) from a local dvd. It looks as the boots hangs after the transition to ACPI mode and the last messages I see is;
CPU0: AMD Turion Dual-Core RM-70 stepping 01
SMP motherboard not detected

I have done this my desktop which is not AMD dual-core, but I think this is over ny head. Any help would be appreciated.
TIA
