Inspiron 4000/ATI Rage M3 - Dual monitor?

I have a Dell Inspiron 4000, recently converted to debian.
I can't seem to get the external monitor to work as an extended desktop (although using Fn + F8 allows me to mirror the display to my external monitor).

Has anyone had success with this? I have not been able to find any details elsewhere. Any suggestions or recommendations for the XF86Config-4 file
are appreciated.

video card is ATI Technologies Inc Rage Mobility M3 AGP 2x (rev 02).

The error I get is "Fatal Server Error: Requested Entity already in use!"

Thanks!

Some additional info - here is the XF86Config file I am trying (but doesnt work). Maybe someone can point out something I did wrong, but didn't notice:
