ibuddie keyboard function tab in mandrake
I installed mandrake 9.1 on ecs ibuddie 928 notebook
The function tab keeps permanently on. I have set an italian qwerty keyb layout . Before mandrale I had redhat and also tried slackware. Both didn't have this problem, even if Mandralke shows only an optio n for it keyb, redhat and slack had two or three. |
hi,
welcome to linux questions, i presume that on your laptop when you type certain letters you get numbers and symbols ? if so i think you mean your num lock is on, just check to make sure you donot have a light on your laptop some place the lock lights are normally in clusters ( groups ) the three locks, num lock, caps lock, and scroll lock, the num lock is normally represented with either: a number 1 a little square with little dots inside an open padlock with a number 1 inside to fix this simply press the num lock button and the light will go out let us know what happens |
No it is the fn (function tab).
But I have just discovered that installer didn't install any, I mean any !!!, XF86Config file in /etc/X11 I will try to write a decent ono with sis specific rules, as described in www.desknote.biz faq. I didn't even think of such possibility. |
oh right!?
if you are successful, would you consider writing a page for www.linux-on-laptops.com ? please keep us posted |
If I will be succesful I will surely do

I had the same issue with mandrake 10.1, it was the num lock key, you just need to hold the fn key while u hit the num lock key then it will turn off, to fix it permentaly I went into the mandrake control center, into system, then services and uncheck numlock on boot. thats all folks, anyone get tv out on the 928/928 going?
