IBM Thinkpad R50 shuts down on its own

Hi
I have Mandrake 10.0 installed on my IBM R50 Thinkpad. The problem is that it shuts down on its own if left untouched for around 10 mins... obviously not a systematic shutdown, rather it just blows off. What could be the problem?

temperature? the fan is working?
do you have something making the control of power management: apm or acpi?
just a thought.

Have a look at your bios settings for apm. Only thing I can think of, unless something really nasty is going on. What do you mean by just blows off? Does it actually turn off or what? As much info as possible would be good to help.

I do have the same problem. after 10 minutes (even less) i do not use the computer it freezes, it doesn't work at all and i have to shut it down. If i retry immediately after to turn it on it doesn't work at all (black screen). I have to shut it down for five or more minutes and then it works...
I don't want to get back to the xp ( i can't work with it) please help me...
