IBM Thinkpad R50 mic problem

Hi
I have an IBM Thinkpad R50 on which i have installed Mandrake 10.0. The problem is that as soon as alsa loads during bootup, my inbuilt mic starts automatically taking input and moreover by itself outputs these sounds through the speakers (simultaneously). How can i stop this?
