This site contains numerous reviews for a variety of laptop manufacturers and distros. From what I can see, the T40 is a smokin machine and works well with Linux, but I do not speak from a position of personal experience. (I'm also looking into getting a laptop and found this site to be helpful) http://tuxmobil.org/mylaptops.html -- J.W.

I am useing a T40p, have had great luck with RH9. Have an older 5400rpm disk in it which is kinda slow loading apps but with a gig of ram, once loaded it's solid and fast.

Did any of you figure out how to get your wireless to work with the T40?

Mandrake is best suited to IBM laptops. No problems with the install or any of the components. apart from some of the win modems and the ibm thinkpad button at the top. Other than that all the power feature and buttons work great.

Matthew,

I've installed Mandrake 9.2 on my T40 and I have the same problem with the wireless adapter not working. Did you do anything special or know of any hacks that can help.

Thanks,

Rhsam
