IBM laptop & touchpad & TrackPoint - touchpad doesn't work!

I have successfully compiled and installed Synaptic Touchpad
driver 0.13.5 to X11 following install notes.
w1.894.telia.com/~u89404340/touchpad/

But to my big surprise, touchpad stop responding at all, contrary to TrackPoint (mini-joistick or pointing stick, residing inside keyboard) strated to work for the first time I own this laptop.

My desire was to get 'tap-click', and other advertised great features of this driver, working since from kernel 2.6 'tap-clik' doesn't work.

I know about altrenative od using boot parameter proto.imps, but thats' not exactly what I want.

IBM R40 like other IBM laptops has two positioning systems: the touchpad and the TrackPoint. Does someone manage to get woring both of them?

Details:
External USB mose is working without glitches. I have tried disconnecting it in different ways but it has no influence.

kernel 2.6.5-1.358 (FC2 stock kernel)

Code:
[root@home input]# cat /proc/bus/input/devices
I: Bus=0011 Vendor=0002 Product=0007 Version=0000
N: Name="SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad"
P: Phys=isa0060/serio1/input0
H: Handlers=mouse0 event0
B: EV=b
B: KEY=6420 0 670000 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
B: ABS=11000003
command 'cat /dev/input/event0'
doesn't responding neither to touchpad or TrackPoint
'cat /dev/input/event3'
responding to external mouse as expected

In the server section of the xorg.conf, do you have more than one "CorePointer" device? You can only have one, change the second to "SendCoreEvents", or "AlwaysCore".

I think SendCoreEvents works better with xorg, but AlwaysCore seems to work better with Xfree.
