I have huges problems installing SUSE 10 in my Toshiba A75-213
 
Hellow world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please, I need help I´m as new in this forum as I´m in Linux. I'have try to migrate from Windows many times and yet I can't do it!!!

I bought a Toshiba A75-213 laptop, it came with WinXP so I made a 10G partition to install SUSE 10.0.
After run the first installation cd, I'm asked to reboot my computer. When SUSE is booting the sceen goes black and I'm forced to shutdown the pc.

If anybody knows what is hapening and can help me I'll be very greatfull.

Boot into the Fail Safe and do the following:

Login as root
vi /etc/X11/xorg.conf
hit the "i" key
Scroll down until you find the section:
Driver "trident"
Change the "trident" to "vesa" so it will look like:
Driver "vesa"
Now click the "esc" key
Hold down the "shift" key and click "ZZ" (Z twice).
Now reboot and you should be good.

I have tried and failed
 
I have done all you said but it didn't worked.
Althoug if I enter in failsafe I have console acces, I canot find this line: Driver "trident". Or anything like it... I couldn't find the word driver.

My problem could be related with the monitor recognition instead of the driver?

I used pico instead of vi because it is more intuitive.

Sorry for the late response but if anybody helpme I'll be greatfull.

Sounds like you don't have a Video driver installed then for X.

Can you post your xorg.conf

Maybe http://www.dnkcreations.com/dnk2/linuxsuse.asp can give you base line from which to get install going.
