I've managed to get Mandrake 9.1 on my zehp4430us with the following issues.
ACPI = Power?? Does not start nor APMD = Battery?
It has a broadcom 54g build in 54G wireless, anyone know of drivers.
Also are there KDE utilities that would work the my AMD-M processor in a automatic way XP can to conserve battery life when I'm forced to rely on a battery?
In other threads on this board I have seen that apm and acpi can't run at the same time. See this link. To save battery life I think ACPI is the answer, try to recompile the latest kernel with an ACPI patch and software suspend patch. Look at linux-laptops.net for some good suggestions. I have read good and bad about ACPI and linux support. Red Hat Severn beta worked better than Mandrake 9. 1 on my ze4420us.
We'll I havent tried the Burner yet.. Fedora runs faster than the others and the linuxant driver works also using the tar.gz package they have.
I think I still have to do something in the /dev folder to get the burner to work with the software though.. just havent had time to try yet.. maybe tomorrow.
Distribution: Ubuntu Edgy Eft/ OSX Panther dual boot on PPC Mac Mini.

I wouldn't mind being in on this
I am a newbie, but I do have the laptop in question. I also work part time, so I could devote some time to it. cyberdwarf<at>aimcomm.net
I had good luck with suse 10 before xp trashed my mbr for no good reason. Let me know. p.s. I can't code.
I'm sorry I thought I was replying to a older thread.. Allow me to try Suse 9.1 next week before I make a real verdict on it vs Fedora Core. I'm more of a fan of Suse anyways.
