I just install debian on my laptop but my screen is having some issues displaying correctly View Pic. I have a Hp Pavillion dv9008nr. I don't know how to fix this. When I connect my LCD to the laptop everything displays correctly. I also installed the Nvidia driver which are loaded.
Here is the /etc/x11/xorg.conf. The Resolution that I want is 1440x900.

Not at home to access my logs but I think you may need to define the monitor horz and vertical settings and rem out the DMPS line. For now search use the search tool here and search for ' xorg nvida resolution ' or ' xorg nvidia monitor ' Look through other post with examples. I know there are valid ones here. Also posing the output from the command I mentioned will tell use the video card model. ' /sbin/lspci '. It could be the card does not support that res unless using the current driver package from source.
Also I have the elive cd which works perfect It loads the Nvidia Beta Drivers with 3d accleration or something live that. I tried to change dpgk=reconfigure xserver-xorg to some of the things I found their but still no luck. I get the same problem still. Here is the xorg.conf file from ELIVE

Most of it was the same as I had before but some differences is resolution but the only reason I picked the one in elive is because they didnt have the other one listed as a possiblity. I have the Nvidia driver from sid but I dont think they are beta but I would be willing to try that if I have to

Out of ideas to the issue. My only thought is maybe the driver does not support that resolution. One thing you may try is boot up with the latest Knoppix Live CD and see if the resolution is fine. If so look at its xorg and compare.
I just wanted to say thank Brian1 for your help. I have resolve the issue. I was the driver. I updated the lasted/ debian experimental driver and every think is working great with the screen at least.
