hp pavilion reboots instead of shutting down
 

hi!

after reading some posts about the subject and trying noacpi or acpi=off still get a reboot after selecting shutdown...
on a fresh install and re-install of pclinuxos 2012.08 (kernel - 3.2.18-pclos2.bfs) fully updated...

hp pavilion dv 6000
Intel Core 2 Duo T5600 1.83 ghz
nVidia GeForce Go 7400
2gb of ram

as i get no help i guess i'll have to let the friend i was converting to linux to keep vista and rootkits and spyware and keyloggers...

Which shutdown methods have you tried? Have you checked the logs for messages?

the normal and from cli...

but the problem is solved:
i did yet another reinstall but this time i started the live dvd in safe mode and proceeded with the installation the usual way...
created a new user and tested shutdown... it worked.
did the mandatory system update... and shutdow worked.
installed locale and libre office, changed wallpapers and other visual definitions and it kept on working... Grin
