hp nx6325 microphone doesnt work?

Hi!
i Have a HP NX6325 laptop, and the microphone doesnt work (uhm.. there is one integrated and one mic in jack, i tried both, and it doesnt wok with either)

in alsamixer i dont have a 'mic' volume setting but i have 'mic boost' and 'internal mic boost' in playback and the same in Capture (all were set to 100 during the testing, and i still cannot record anything (mic is dead).

does anyone else have similar problems and a know how to fix it?

ps: sound output works well

I have slackware 10.2 updated to current (11?) and 2.6.18 kernel
alsa version is 1.0.11, module for the s/c is snd_hda_intel
(i have "options snd-hda-intel model=hp position_fix=1 enable=yes" in /etc/modprobe.d/sound )
in alsamixer card is shown as: "HDA ATI SB" chip: "Analog Devices AD1981"
lspci output: "00:14.2 Audio device: ATI Technologies Inc SB450 HDA Audio (rev 01)"

Have you tried this?:

Open a terminal
alsamixer
Press tab twice
Head over to Microphone.
Press enter.
Head over to Capture
Press enter.

tried it.. the problem is that on the laptop i dont have mic volume level (just the boost level) .. on my pc i have both settings, boost to 0 and mic input level to about 80% and it works fine.. but on the laptop nothing.

here's the screenshot... first track is the internal mic, and the second is external one (works with my other pc).. and it doesnt work

i'll try the newer alsa utils and stuff, and i'll see if it works with that

Capture doesn't have "CAPTUR" below it.
Head over to Capture and press Spacebar.

I made a mistake when I wrote "Enter" in the previous post, it's space bar
