HP laptop, and No USB under Mandrake9.1;9.2

Well, I have a Hp ze5385us, and I have everything working, including suspend to disk, and wireless, except USB. I'm going insaine here. I can't get the USB to work under Mandrake 9.1, or 9.2, however, it works under knoppix 3.2, and winxp. USB does not show up in my /proc ANYWHERE. There is no /proc/usb, or /proc/bus/usb. (the only ones I've been told to look for).

Can anyone help me? I'm not even afraid of doing a kernel rebuild at this point.. I'll do about anything. Thanks.

What modules are loaded? Use ' lsmod ' to list them in a terminal screen.

If you have a USB storage device plugged in do these commands and post results.

cat /proc/bus/usb/devices
cat /proc/bus/usb/drivers
cat /proc/scsi/scsi

If none of the above show anything then there are no USB modules loaded.

To load them you will need to try and see which ones will work.
At a terminal screen issue these commands. This is to see which ones you need.

insmod usb-ohci for some 1.0 1.1 usb cards
insmod usd-uhci for other 1.0 1.1 usb cards
insmod ehci-hcd for 2.0 usb

One or two will not load. The ones that load with no errors you could then add them to /etc/modules.conf file. Example below of my statements in my modules.conf file.

edit /etc/modules.conf
alias usb-controller usb-ohci
alias usb-controller1 ehci-hcd

Good luck
