Hp dv9005us and SUSE 10.1 problems

Hello,

I would like to start by saying thanks for all the knowledge that this forum brings to everyone!

I have just purchased a Hp dv9005us and have installed SUSE 10.1 as a dual boot system. I have a couple of problems that I don't understand and would like some help. First is the only way I can get it to boot into Linux (using Grub) Is either buy failsafe mode or adding the option 'ACPI=off' to the normal start up. One time so far I have not done this and it booted fine with sound and all. Which leads me to my next problem I have no sound. I can't figure this out either as like I stated it worked once. But I guess if I can get the first problem fixed that would be good. So any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Perhaps I can help a little with the audio problem. I'm currently developing a driver for the Conexant audio chip that can be found in most HP DV series laptops (as well as Toshiba P100 and Compaq V5000 series laptops).

Send me an email, and I will send you a patch along with instructions on how to install it. Please include the output from 'lspci -s 0:1b -vn' and 'cat /proc/asound/card0/codec*'.
