HP dv5 1015NR Wifi Drivers not working Ubuntu 9.04

So I am atemping to help a friend of mine install Ubuntu on his laptop and it is working great aside from the fact that the network manager is not detecting his wifi card...

It is an HP dv5 1015NR, under hardware drivers the "Broadcom STA wireless driver" is listed as in use how ever like I said the wifi card is not detected... Any ideas?

let me try.

With ubuntu add sudo to most of these lines. If a command isn't found, look in /sbin
check the location with lsusb lspci, and lspcmcia.

Where is his wifi card and what is it? HP will have a cable nic installed as well and that is on pci

then check what's happening with it at bootup
dmesg |less
less /var/log/messages

broadcom, networking, wifi
