HowTo: HP Pavilion dv1000 Display resolution

Hi,
I 'm able to set 1024x768 resolution on my HP pavilion dv1000 laptop, but I like to have 1280x960, which I had it before and lost it some how . I couldn't get it back. I tried the Modeline configuration but is now not working. Is any one know how to do it?
Please help me
Thanks
Ramanan

Maybe 'xorgsetup' could help. It helped me. Shutdown your X server, and run it from the console as root.

Yeah I'm having a similar problem. Reinstalled Suse and something's messed up with the graphics card.

Before the reinstall I had 1280 x 1024 running fine. Now I can only hit 1024 x 768. It's shit.

I tried editing the sax2 config file in console as su but still can't get KDE to display properly.

It's a 14.1" LCD display 16:10 ratio. Suse detected it fine the last time.

For the record I'm having the same problem in XP (dual boot). Maybe I munted the BIOS or the actual card when performing the fresh install?

Any pointers at all would be helpful for me as I'm a relative newbie and this is really infuriating.

I'd be looking closely at my BIOS if I were you. It's doubtful it's your video card if you're still getting video. I'm not an expert though either, so don't be surprised to hear some other suggestions.
