How to Standby in mandrkae 10.1.....Dell Inspiron 5100

Hi
I have currently the Mandrake 10.1 installed on a dell Inspiron 5100 machine. Every thing is working fine except the power management. I wanted to ask how to make the machine go in a standby/suspend state. Whenever I do so by the CLI saying klaptop_acpi_helper --standby the computer goes to standby..........like the power light is blinking but the screen is still on.........It gives a sort of CLI based innterface.......saying the computer has Susupened.......>>Resume works fine also............
SO how to turn the damn screen off...............
