How to save power on laptop with OpenSuse 12.1

Hi,

before I have Mandriva, Slackware installed, then I have KDE and powertop, everything works well, my battery could work for more than 4 hours.

Then I switch to OpenSuse with KDE and powertop, I find powertop on opensuse is different from the one on mandriva and slackware.

On Slacware/Mandriva, my powertop has some 'tabs', using Z+->key I can switch the tabs, then close some applications for saving power, no same functions like this on opensuse.

I am sure I have the same version of powertop, do I miss something important?

Or any other suggestions for saving power?

Thanks.

In Debian I use laptop-mode-tools and it almost double the time my laptop runs on battery. What laptop do you have?
