how to install fedora 9 in my toshiba laptop(pre-installed vista)


hai to all

i got a new toshiba laptop which has preinstalled vista home basic with only one partition ,then i used partition making tool to create a free space of 30GB

then i booted my fedora 9 dvd ,then i took the option as install or upgrade the system

but nothing is coming after that, with some codes

i have installed fedora 9 many times in my system with dual boot configuration(xp and fedora)..

but in my laptop that anaconda installer is not coming and it is not detecting my video card ...i may not be able to get installing interface

any suggestions help me ,thanks in advance

Are you getting a black screen after you run the install/live CD? Try pressing tab over the installation option and add on "vga=771" to the command displayed.

but, still that fedora 9 dvd is not detecting my toshiba laptop's hardware configuration

Why not try the latest version of Fedora? You may find that works.

Fedora 9 has reached end of life go with F10 or 11. When you used Vistas disk management tool you should have shrank the ntfs partition to create unallocated free space. When you start the Fedora install choose to install to "free space" using the default setup.

PS: make sure you create recovery/restore discs before installing Linux if you haven't already!
