Question How to disable NIC on Mint 12

I have a laptop that has a built in g wifi, but it seems to have stopped working on windows, so I got a usb n. I installed mint 12 and it came up with both nic's configured and it seems to be connectng to my wireless network using both and getting confused. I have been trying to find where devices are configured, but haven't found it. How do I disable the built in g network?

It varies depending on the distro you're using. You're probably using network manager though. It should be in the system try. From there, you can tweak the connections.

The easiest way would be to just hit the disable wifi button on your laptop though.

Most laptops have an actual switch to disable the wireless nic.

They should work together fine normally. Since you say it is bad in windows then it may be bad hardware and that is the issue.

As above the gui is an easy way usually. If not try ifconfig to see what is what or lspci lsusb maybe then ifdown the one you want.

As for mint usually you ask question in search engine but use ubuntu instead of mint or just go to the ubuntu doc's directly for answers. Most are exactly for mint.
