How to decrease /proc/acpi/battery refresh interval
Hi,
Is there any way to decrease the refresh interval of stats produced in /proc/acpi/battery ? I find that stats update currently every 15 seconds on my FC4, 2.6.16, laptop. I want to bring it down to a 1 second if possible, but was not sure how to do it. Or it would be nice to be able to read the most current stats directly instead of reading from /proc/acpi/battery/BAT1/state. Anyone have any idea how to proceed? I figure that I may have to tinker with kernel variables to do this. Vinod |
Depending on the Laptop, Tha battery, The OS, and likely a few other things, the polling interval **may** not specifically be settable via the /proc interface. It might, but it might not. I haven't been able to locate any specific thing to echo into the /proc/acpi or proc/apm filesystems to set a polling interval.
That said, if this proves true, you might want to look onto something like 'Gkrellm' and set it up to monitor the battery. Also, using the APMd or ACPId daemons and related tools can do about anything that currently *can* be done, regarding the ACPI/APM systems. Here's a link or two for you to browse through. Also, for more information, check for stuff on the Linux Documentation Project website for 'ACPI' and 'APM' and the /proc interface. http://www.novell.com/documentation/...l/ch09s02.html http://www.columbia.edu/~ariel/acpi/acpi_howto.txt http://www.chronox.de/x40_linux/linu...d_battery_info Also looks like the 'cpufreqd' toolset can be used to poll the battery at specified intervals: http://cpufreqd.sourceforge.net/manp...d.conf.5.shtml or Dockapps: http://dockapps.org/file.php/id/164 |
