Hi Alek,

I won't pretend to have fully understood exactly what you mean, and i certainly wont pretend to be an expert on the matter, but i am also having trouble with special keys on my laptop. I havent resolved this problem as yet (haven't gotten around to it so dont know how easy/hard it is), but i've heard that there is a very good project called LinEAK (linux easy access keys) which you can google and find the link for which is dedicated to this problem. If you have any luck with this please put the details on this forum because i'd be interested to know how it goes!

hope this helps even an iota

A.

Some Acer laptops need special kernel module :
http://www.archernar.co.uk/acer_acpi...acpi_main.html

here is how i turn wifi on :

modprobe acer_acpi
echo "enabled: 1" > /proc/acpi/acer/wireless
modprobe wlan0
dhcpcd wlan0

and wlan0 is defined in /etc/modprobe.conf
alias wlan0 ndiswrapper

i assume you know how to set up ndiswrapper

alek,

yes ndiswrapper works for 64bit. i have a 64bit aptop (hp) and it worked, like most things you wi have to play round with it a bit but there are heas f tutorials about this. google ndiswrapper and your distro and also check out the wiki at the ndiswrapper.sourceforge page.
