I have openSuse 10.3 installed on my DELL Latitude D620 Laptop. I also have an extra hi-res monitor connected and working perfectly together with the internal laptop display as dual monitors. I'm running compiz and using KDE. Everything is good. But...

How can I make my system automatically detect if the extra monitor is present - and if NOT - switch to a single (internal laptop display) monitor setup?

You see, while I am at home I am very happy to make use of my extra monitor and the large desktop space, but when on the move I need to use my laptop alone and only have a 1280x800 desktop.

Anyone able to help or redirect me to a good HowTo source?

I manage it on my Libretto with two configuration files for the X-Server and two boot options in my bootloader configuration.
