how do I update HAL scripts to use s2ram?

Ever since a round of updates and upgrade to Ubuntu 10.04 the other day, my laptop always hangs when trying to suspend when it is the THIRD time I'm performed a suspend since rebooting.

After searching through all the solutions, the only one that works so far is just forcing a suspend with "s2ram -f".

How can I have the system use "s2ram -f" if I press my power button (assuming I've told it to suspend in this situation) or if I click the power management button and select "suspend"?

Thanks.
