How do I turn off my ATI Radeon Graphics card in Ubuntu 10.10?
I have been having a serious power drain issue using Ubuntu 10.10 on my HP pavilion dv6. I don't face the same problem when I use windows 7.
I have an ATI Radeon 5650 inside the laptop. Can you help me solve this issue? My guess is that I should probably turn off my graphics card. How do I 'turn off' the ATI graphics card and use the Intel graphics card instead? |
You should be able to switch it off in BIOS.
As a alternative: read these links http://en.gentoo-wiki.com/wiki/Vga_switcheroo https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/ATI#Powersaving |
BIOS...
Look in the BIOS of your notebook where there should be a setting for the activation of either the ATI Radion or Intel graphics. Your notebook manual might give you additional information on where to look in the BIOS. |
Sorry! It's been a while...
@thorkelljarl. I failed to find the information for switching between cards in the BIOS. I'll take you suggestion and look into the manual. @andrewthomas. The second link you've posted seems pretty informative and I am pretty sure I will find what I need there. Thank you both :) |
