Help Installing Webcam on my ASUS W5FM


Ive been trying for a while now to fix my webcam on my ASUS laptop with no success I installed easycam and I find my device bus which is Microdia and i click it and install it and it says it is still in beta and if my webcam wasnt detected it cannot be detected through the autodetection progress. I hit ok and I now i dont know how to switch it in multimedia systems selector, i dont know what to put for video in v4l does not work what should i do ive tried looking online but im lost please help me

Hi, sorry I can't help more. This link might suggest that you need to use V4l2 and not v4l if you are using a 2.6 kernel.

If you search the following webpage for "microdia"

It indicates support is available, and directs you to the following site, though I can't find your make or model in there, it does mention v4l2:

I have seen a page suggesting that it may work under the SimplyMepis distribution, sorry lost the location
