I have a big problem with notebook Compaq Presario nx1000.

i am a newbie in linux (suse 9.2 pro, kernel 2.6.8.24-11.

my irda adapter don`t recognized by system. i have detected in windows, that my chip is smc-ircc.

i have found this module in src/linux. how to compile and install this driver into the system ?

or can anyone of you provide a complete help for dummies how to enable irda support in this notebook ? please, anyone, help me !!!!
