handheld HP Ipaq 2215, I'd like to install linux... I need help!
Hi,
I've bought a handheld, HP Ipaq 2215. The preinstalled software is Windows CE, that sucks. Does anybody can give me directions on how to install a Linux distro on it? I don't know where to start, how to install a new OS on it, etc. This handheld is quite powerful, 400 MHz processor, 65 MB SDRAM, 320x200 LCD monitor. Thanks a lot! Golan :newbie: |
Familiar is the big player in Linux for the iPAQ. However, the iPAQ 2215 is new and usually it takes a few months for Familiar to be ported over to a new release. Take a look at the progress here: http://www.handhelds.org/projects/h2200.html. Looks like progress is moving slowly but hopefully Familiar will be ported over and poor students like me can afford a handheld. btw, handhelds.org is Familiar's homepage is take a look around to familiarize yourself with their work.

Thanks microtim!
I'll probably wait some time, I've no urgence to use linux on it. Can you tell me some more details about "familiar" ? I've never heard this term before! Wow, Cambidge, Massachussets... a lot of people say it is a really nice place... now I'm at UC Irvine, California... better weather than Cambridge, at least! :) Byez |
