I'm having problems with GTK GUIs on my Compaq CQ50 laptop. I have a dual boot system using Ubuntu 8.10 and Windows Vista. GTK has a very slow redraw speed on this PC. Scrolling through documents is choppy, moving frames around is very slow, and underlying frames take time to redraw. This problem is not affecting native Windows applications. But GTK applications on Windows suffer from the same problems. Not to mention my PC runs very hot and video corruption is evident on the upslash.

Video Adaptor: Geforce 8200M

Any suggestions on how to fix this problem? It's the only issue affecting this laptop.

Would something like RenderAccel work in this situation. The problem seems to be the nvidia graphics chip.
