Angry grub rescue, now what...the saga continues

yep...you guessed it...happened again...read from my other post...the details... but I think I have a problem....this time I loaded 10.04 and went through all the normal boots... opened the program... added some websites and began to enjoy (again) the distro....Update manager appeared and I accepted all the upgrades.. as I did not want to have any more problems... all normal... went for a coffee again while the 237 files downloaded... once completed... and 3 coffees later... back to using the system... again great and loved it... hmmm turned off the netbook... and retired for the day (Saturday)... Sunday I get up... turn on the netbook.... the black screen "Grub Rescue" of death appears again....hmmmm Meus Deus (my God in Portugues... yes,I live in Sao Paulo) obviously I am stunned... again... what did I do wrong? So I reload AGAIN....and sat and thought what I had done in all cases that had caused my problems...it took a pot of coffee and about 2 hours of contemplation... and an obvious pop up window to open my eyes and mind... THE UPDATE MANAGER... in all cases I downloaded the content of the MANAGER..... every time I installed or reinstalled the system.... this time I decided NOT TO INSTALL... and guess what... my system is operating normal... yes I have turned the system off and on several times... and no problems... ok,ok... where is the problem in the UPDATE Manager...and do I really need to use it... help... thanks, Ted

You are using Ubuntu 10.04 which uses the Grub2 bootloader. If you did updates, you may have updated to a new kernel in which case you would need to run update-grub after your updates.

I would suggest you investigate this as a possibility through further research. I do not use Ubuntu or Grub2 but am basing the above statement on what I have read about on this and other forums.

*buntu* presents 2x a year new ... so rescue everything you have to SSD ... and install new ... The Drivers are always difficult ... so if you're realitivly pleased with one OS then not upgrade -- even if it is a psychological ((jew) S. Freud) push -lol-

(Better to be the General and to be the first to die)

My parents went bankrupt in the mid 80s as small farmers (45ha) I`m a lit conservative but I don`t fear ""revolution"" - even it`s just the ""OS""
