Getting Suspend-to-RAM to work on Toshiba laptop.

I'm trying to get Suspend to RAM to work on my Toshiba laptop (running openSUSE 11.0). Suspend to Disk works perfectly, however.

For identification purposes, s2ram --test reports:
Code:

Machine unknown
This machine can be identified by:
    sys_vendor  = "TOSHIBA"
    sys_product  = "Satellite P35"
    sys_version  = "PSP30U-27W001"
    bios_version = "V1.40"
See http://en.opensuse.org/S2ram for details.

If you report a problem, please include the complete output above.
If you report success, please make sure you tested it from both X and
the text console and preferably without proprietary drivers.

In addition, I have found that lid closing/opening isn't detected. lshal -m remains silent while opening/closing lid.

Is there some kind of ACPI setting that I have to switch on in order for suspend to RAM and lid closing to work?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I have been trying to suspend the laptop from Runlevel 1 (all other boot options at default).

So far, I've gotten the combination "s2ram -f -p -m -a 2" to work, but only once. One other time, everything but the screen was working. All other times, the computer failed to resume (no Caps Lock light on keyboard).

I still haven't gotten the lid to work at all.

Any suggestions?
