Gateway Laptop W340UI Debian 6 installs but locks during first boot
I installed Debian 6.0 on my older Laptop.
Installation went fine, but during first boot it locks up with the line "Waiting for /dev to be fully populated"
The only way to get out of this is to do a hard reboot. I have grub loader installed and when I try to boot into recovery mode it get stuck on either
"Setting up preliminary keymap...done"
Or on the last try it currently sits at
" Cleaning up temporary files..."
I have tried to install Ubuntu but that installation never gets past the initial menu, Knoppix 6.4.4 wont load either.
The only Linux OS that i can get to boot up is an older version of Knoppix V4.0.2.
The laptop has a 1.6 GHz Celeron and 1.5Gigs of RAM.
Any suggestions ....
Thanks
