Question Gateway 7508GX compatibility

I'm not going to ask what the best distro for my notebook is, I'm going with Debian. I know that perhaps gentoo would be better suited to the power my system has, and make me feel really 1337 by having it, but my technical expertise is limited, and I've tried numerous times on an older machine with no sucess what so ever.

SO my question is what extra hoops am I going to jump through to get my notebook fully functional with Debian.

System Specs and Hardware
AMD ATHLON 64 3400+
1024 MB PC2700
80 GB HD
ATI MOBILITY RADEON X600 (64MB)
Broadcom 802.11g Network Adapter
Marvell Yukon 88E8036 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller
6-in-1 card reader (which I can't find in the device manager, or most specific details on gateway's website).

The most important issues are the wireless adapter and the video card.

I'm going to make the switch because I can't afford XP64bit, and I feel like my computer is being wasted running in a 32 bit evironment.

Thanks in advance,
Jacob
