fedora8 boot problem


Hi,
I am trying to boot fedora on my laptop.
I ve selected cd for boot it continues without problem till to the test memory or skip part but when i selected skip it gives error

usr/bin/loadpolicy:error while loading shared libraries/lib/libc.so.6:invalid ELF header.
.......
.........
...........

You may safely reboot your system.
I would like to use linux so please help me.

Hey,

Never seen this but its worth asking questions:

Have you had any O/S up and running on this laptop before?

Have you recently made any changes to memory configuration?

Have you tried any other Linux boot cd's i.e. Puppy or Slax?

I'm thinking it sounds like when the boot process tries to load this library it hits a malfunction in one of the memory chips.

Can you remove any of the memory and then try to boot just for comparison?

I am using windows XP.
160 GB HD
2 GB RAM
i ve left 40 gb for fedora.
many times i tired to boot but it stoped same.

so i am waiting your helps please today maybe 20 times i tried to boot

thank you for answer..

Which of the below steps have you tried as continually rebooting is not going to help.

Also I'd check the Hardware Compatability List for your machine and media check the CD's
