fedora on compaq laptop

hi to all
i have installed fedora core1 on my laptop, compaq presario.
at the time of booting
i get this messsage

initializing firewire controller (ohci13..... and the system hangs

tried starting interactive startup
but 'I' doesnt work, what should i do to get this off and start working on my ltop.
sometimes i also get this error at the beginning of interactive start menu

\umount2 error
\umount2: initrd.d

plz help me out

I _think_ you can go to /boot/grub/grub.conf and disable hardware checking for firewire.
There will be different sections, looking somewhat like the one below, for each kernel you
have installed. Add "nofirewire" - minus the quotes - at the end of the "kernel /vmlinuz" line.
