fedora core 3 wireless problems

Hi All!

I'm running Fedora Core 3 on a Dell Inspiron 5000 Laptop, Kernel 2.6.x. I have a Belkin 802.11B PC MCIA CARD INSTALLED. I have the wlan-ng package installed (from source). My problem is that randomly and periodically my essid changes automatically, this intern disrupts my network connection. I'm able to run air snort and the card works fine when i can keep the settings correct. I have added an essid and channel line to my ifcfg-wlan0 file to know avail. Can anyone offer me assistance as to when and how the correct settings should be placed to ensure they are not changed or overidden by anyother file/program. fyi after running air snort, it appears there is an abundance of wifi nets in our immediated geographical area. It is 2 of these particular nets that seem to be overridding my settings. Also, the Belkin Card uses the prism 2

Add info. that may be helpful is:

1) I have taken a look at the /etc/pcmia/wireless.opts file and thought i had removed the portion that instructs the card to pick up any active access point. however, anyone with anymore insight--I'm willing to go & revist.

Thanks a bunch

There's a HOWTO here in the WIKI section for the Belkin 802.11
