Fedora 8 on a Toshiba Satellite

Hello, i have just downloaded and burned fedora core 8 and tried to install it. I can boot from the cd and it reads everything i did a disc check and everything was good but once its done making sure the disc is okay i just get the blue screen and it sits there and it wont go any further. Do you think it could be the dvd or maybe its my laptop?

Run the text based installation, or non graphic which ever they call it now. It's one of the options when you boot up the disk.

Which version are you trying to install? i386 or X86_64?

If one doesn't work, maybe the other can do.

An other possibility would be that you try specifying some options before the install begins. At the start screen, you can press [Tab] to specify your options (if I'm not mistaken). Common options are noapic and acpi=off. Maybe specifying one of them or both could solve your problem.

did u check the integrity of the dvd?

try to check the integrity of your dvd first.. maybe the disk is defective!

the easiest way is to copy the iso image again from the dvd into the hard disk, check the sha1 hash (use any sha1 utility to do so) and compare it to the original hash from your download site. if they match then u could try other magic.

goodluck!!!
