thinkpad disk crashed; Replaced HD w/ 60GB Toshiba. 512MB memory. Updated BIOS to 1.40 (latest) loaded M$ XP on 1/3 of the disk.
Upgraded a different machine with FC6 CDs (so they're OK).

Thinkpad goes like scared rabbit until it hits "running /sbin/loader"
After 2(?) hours (disk light flashes occasionally) it will ask if I want to check the CDs. I said no and went to bed. Three or four hours later it had the opening X window - blank, of course. When I got up in the morning it was still blank.

This is not how other machines behave. Any ideas? (Anybody else have these problems?)
