fatal IO error 104 on X server "0.0" in RHEL5

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
Hi Friends,

I m using a Presario C700 series Laptop with te WideScreen,
I have problems in loading the X server.
It could not start the Installation in Graphical Mode, but successfully done in text mode.

Most of the experts have said that system-config-display would resolve, but its actually not.

i tried system-config-display --reconfig, but still it says that it could not start.

Have you tried: system-config-display --reconfigure. Also, can you post the "screen" section of the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file if that does nothing?

would have been nice to see what Graphics chip you have in your post.. (output of lspci

The Mobile Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 is just that part of the 965GM which is used for graphics

this wants the 'intel' driver in xorg.conf. and hopefully your kernel is new enough to have support for the 965 Chipset..
