fan not working on a Fujitsu Lifebook E342
Hello Everybody,
I have Debian 3.0r1 (kernel 2.4.18-bf24) installed on a Fujitsu Lifebook E342. The CPU cooling fan is never activated, no matter how hot the laptop gets. It worked when I had Windows 98 installed. The Fujitsu Lifebook E342 is quite old and doesn't support ACPI, which might make things simpler. I contacted Fujitsu about this problem but I received no replies whatsoever. When I contacted them in the past, about other issues, very seldom I received feedback from them. My impression of their support is the worst possible. Did anybody bump into this problem and, hopefully, a solution ? Thank you very much in advance Paulo |
I have a simmilar problem
I'm sorry, I don't know how to fix your problem, but I do seem to have a somewhat similar problem: when booting Red Hat 9 everything works perfectly, but the cooling fan would never stop. I am using an Acer Aspire 1700-series laptop and boot (as always) from MBR (which did work with the pre-installed windows XP). I can't adjust the fan using BIOS.
