Eee PC 1101: adding 1366x768 resolution to xorg.conf

Hi all,

I just installed Fedora 11 on a new Eee PC 1101, which has an 11.6" screen and offers a maximum resolution of 1366x768.

Alas, I haven't yet been able to get the Poulsbo driver working (the xorg-x11-drv-psb package from RPMFusion), so I am using the vesa driver. The driver defaults 800x600, and I thought it would be straightforward to remedy this (Google returns a gazillion hits); I added this section to xorg.conf:

X starts OK, but resolution is still 800x600. Any ideas on what I seem to be missing here?

Disable the login manager and use yum to reconfigure the Xserver.
Use Google http://www.google.com/linux and search for gma 950.

Is x.org using xorg.conf or xorg.conf-vesa?

ah, not sure what you mean here. Are you thinking of dpkg-reconfigure from dpkg/apt distros?

I can boot single-user and run 'system-config-display' but that only generates a generic xorg.conf without the 1366x768 resolution I am looking for.

I think you mean "gma 500" a.k.a. Poulsbo. Yes, lots of hits, some of which I had already found, like the entries on Adam Williamson's blog.
