dual monitor setup on Sony Vaio laptop?


Sony Vaio laptop running Debian: Fn +F7 supposed to set second monitor in use, but this knocks out laptop screen display and does not start second monitor. suggestions appreciated.

Set up a dual monitor configuration. Fn+F7 SWITCHES between the built-in screen and the external input, as it's supposed to.

You don't say what model Vaio, what kind of video card, or what version of Debian, but there are several tutorials on getting dual-monitors to work:

Also, both Gnome and KDE have utilities in the system configuration apps, to let you set up monitors/displays, and dual-monitor configuration is among them.
