what chip set it is using? if you can't find driver, try install ndiswrapper first then use windows driver(only very few model won't work under it)

If you run the command: lspci and post the output here using code tags, someone can help figure out what kind of wireless interface you have in that cheapo.

I just got the Atheros 242X/ar5007 wireless working in my netbook with Debian using madwifi OpenHal (ath_pci module )

wicd is a nice GUI tool that can manage that wireless card.
Reports state that network-manager doesn't work with this driver/chip currently.



Google is an amazing tool, I don't understand why people can never find what they are looking for by using it.. My first hit was the old Ubuntu bug, and the 4th hit on the page was the Linux install report, that had the link to the how-to...
