Driver for Wireless Lan Card wont install using Linux on Asus Computer

Just bought a Asus Eee PC 1011CX laptop and I'm having problems using my wifi.

My driver for wireless lan card wont install on Linux versions 8 Helena 32 bit, Linux mint, Linux 9 Isodora 32-bit, Linux Mint 13 Matte.

Also function key F2 won't work. Function brightness wont work. I checked the bios wireless lan card and it's on but cannot access the internet.

I am looking for a driver solution for my problem or another media friendly distribution to use on my Asus laptop.

Windows 7 works on my Asus and I don't have any of these problems using it. However I want to use Linux.

Any suggestions or help would be much appreciated!

Which chip...

Use the command "lspci" to find a listing of the wireless chip. The Internet will tell you more about getting it to work in linux.

Wireless support has much improved in the last few years, and it may be that you just need to install a linux package or insure that a kernel module is loaded.

I installed the computer specific drivers for my laptop.

It says hardware is present and they are compatible drivers under the wireless windows utility menu on Linux Mint Isodora.

I am now trying to find a way to integrate and pre-load drivers into a computer specific Linux Mint Isodora install disk to eliminate my problem. Let me know if this is possible and what I need to do. Thank you.
