Display issues with Suse 9.3 on dell latitude 610

I just installed Suse 9.3 on a new laptop. All the installation happened just fine.

After the installation is complete nothing shows up on the screen.

I read few posts and tried Ctrl + Alt + F1 to get to the login prompt and see
xorg.conf file. Th resolution is set to 800x600.

Can anyone please help how can I get something to display.

I had the same problem with a Dell Inspiron 2200, I don't believe that SuSE 9.3 recognises the latest Dell laptop screens. I got around the problem by using a Knoppix 4.0 live CD, but perhaps SuSE 10.0 might work...?

As an alternative, here is an extract from the file /etc/X11/XF86Config that works on my Dell Inspiron 2200 with Knoppix:

thanks for the info. I googled and found that the problem might be with the driver.
I trying to compile the right kernel and the right drivers . Hopefully the problem will be resolved.

I installed Fedora core 4 that has issues with the screen resolution too.
