Disable Dell D610 Pointing Stick

Can anyone advise how can I disable the "Pointing Stick" in Linux (Linux Mint; Ubuntu derived) on my D610?

I'm stuck using WinXP on my dual-boot laptop at the moment because I can disable the pointing stick using the Windows driver. If the stick isn't disabled, the mouse enjoys "wandering" around the screen - either to the top-right or bottom-left due to some kind of interplanetary interference

I don't like the pointing stick anyway, so disabling it like I can in Windoze would suit me just fine

The "pointing stick" is probably controlled by some entries in your xorg.conf file. Take a look there.
